We started The Comic Blast because good indie books were launching and closing without the people who would have loved them ever hearing about it. So: if you are making a comic, we would like to see it. There is no charge, and there is no paid placement in the newsletter.

Here is the whole process.

info@thecomicblast.com. One email, with a link to the campaign.

A Kickstarter preview link is fine — better, in fact, than waiting for launch day. So is a Zoop or Indiegogo page that is not live yet. If nothing exists yet but a date, send the date.

People ask us why we bother watching three platforms when Kickstarter is the one everybody names. The short answer is that a comic book campaign behaves differently on each of them, and the difference is not cosmetic — it changes what your money buys and what the creator has to do to get the book printed.

Kickstarter: all or nothing

Kickstarter campaigns set a funding goal and a deadline. If the campaign does not reach the goal by the deadline, nobody is charged and the creator gets nothing.

What we collect

When you sign up for the newsletter. Your first name, if you give one, and your email address. These are held by Acumbamail (opens in a new tab), our newsletter provider. You will get an email asking you to confirm before anything is sent, every issue has an unsubscribe link, and nothing reaches Acumbamail unless you submit the form yourself.
When you email us. If you write to info@thecomicblast.com — to submit a campaign or for any other reason — we keep what you send so that we can answer it.
When you visit this site. Nothing. There is no analytics on this site, no advertising, and no cookies are set by it.

Like every web server, ours records the address of each request, the browser making it and the time. Those logs keep the site working and secure.
