How to get your comic featured in The Comic Blast
What to send us, when to send it, and what happens next. There is no charge to have your comic book or graphic novel campaign featured.
We started The Comic Blast because good indie books were launching and closing without the people who would have loved them ever hearing about it. So: if you are making a comic, we would like to see it. There is no charge, and there is no paid placement in the newsletter.
Here is the whole process.
Send us a link
info@thecomicblast.com. One email, with a link to the campaign.
A Kickstarter preview link is fine — better, in fact, than waiting for launch day. So is a Zoop or Indiegogo page that is not live yet. If nothing exists yet but a date, send the date.
What helps
None of this is required, but it is what we end up asking for:
- Key art or the cover, square if you have it, at 1000px or larger. This is what goes in the issue beside your name, and a small image is the difference between a project a reader looks at and one they scroll past.
- One or two sentences on what the book is. Not the pitch — the description. “A battered wife is kidnapped into a world of vampires and finds she doesn’t want to leave” tells a reader more than three paragraphs about your creative journey.
- The platform and the funding type. Kickstarter, Zoop, Indiegogo fixed, Indiegogo flexible.
- Anything that makes the book real. Page count, format, whether it is printed and where, whether the art is finished.
When to send it
Earlier than you think. A campaign has more to gain in its first seventy-two hours than in the fortnight that follows, and we need enough notice to fit it into an issue that has not gone out yet.
If your campaign is already live, send it anyway. A mid-campaign push is worth having, and there is usually an issue between you and your deadline.
What happens next
We read the campaign page — what the book is, who made it, what the tiers look like, whether the shipping and the schedule look like somebody has thought about them. Then we write you back. We answer everything, including the ones we cannot fit in.
Featured projects go out in an issue with your artwork, a short description and a link straight to the campaign. After the campaign closes, the project keeps its place on the comics page, so the book is still findable when somebody goes looking for it a year later.
That is it. Send us the link.
Making a comic? Tell us about it.
We feature indie comic, graphic novel and manga campaigns in our newsletter, and there is no charge to be considered.
