Gun Street Girl

Action, magic and monsters in London. A creator-owned book from the team behind it, funding now — and the kind of project this site exists for: independent, printed, and easy to miss if you are not watching the platform the week it launches.

    Dusk: The Origin

As a battered wife, Eve’s only concern was to keep her marriage together. But when she is kidnapped into the sordid supernatural world of vampires and foul magic, Eve finds she doesn’t want to leave.

    Magnus Jakuta #5

The intergalactic saga continues. Issue five of an ongoing series, and one of the long-running independent titles that keeps coming back to crowdfunding rather than waiting on a publisher.

Three platforms, one newsletter

  • Kickstarter

Still where most indie comics launch. All-or-nothing funding: if a campaign misses its goal nobody is charged, so a project that funds is one that had the money it asked for.

    • All-or-nothing goals
    • The biggest comics audience
  • Zoop

Comics and graphic novels only, run by people who have shipped books. Campaigns are managed rather than self-serve, which usually shows in how the rewards and the shipping are put together.

    • Comics-first platform
    • Hands-on campaign support
  • Indiegogo

Where flexible funding lives: a campaign can keep what it raises without hitting its goal. Worth reading the funding type on the page before you back — it changes what your pledge is buying.

    • Fixed or flexible funding
    • InDemand keeps selling after the close

Every project we’ve featured

Southbound, Eye for an Eye, Crisis, Murder City Devil, Our Starry Universe, Heroes Latinx, Brik Jones, By The Way — the campaigns that have been through the newsletter, with the artwork their creators sent us.

Most of these have finished funding and shipped. They are here because a finished campaign is still the best way to see what a good one looks like.
